The School of Professional Studies (SPS) at Columbia University invites applications for full-time positions at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline or Senior Lecturer in Discipline to teach in the MS Program in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). This position will begin on July 1, 2019. This is a full-time appointment with multi-year renewal contingent on successful review.
Lecturers/Senior Lecturers in Discipline will teach courses related to ERM and/or risk management, which address topics such as:
ERM frameworks: value-based ERM; COSO ERM; ISO 31000; Basel Accords
ERM/risk quantitative modeling: Intro to finance; intro to quantitative risk management; FRM practices; ERM modeling
Business communication skills: Managing human behavior in the organization; strategic communications for risk professionals; cognitive bias and ERM
Successful candidates will exhibit a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, instructional design, and professional practice and/or scholarship.
The ideal candidate will have significant ERM/risk-related experience and hold either of the following:
A doctoral or master's degree in ERM, risk management, finance, business, or other ERM/risk area;
A Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society
Candidates at the rank of Senior Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have substantial experience and accomplishments, and a superlative record of teaching as a lecturer, and documented evidence of pedagogical excellence in carrying out administrative or other department responsibilities.
Candidates at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline are expected to have teaching experience, documented evidence of pedagogical excellence, and evidence of professional growth and activity in the given field.
