As a member of the Stop Loss Underwriting team, you will be part of the leading direct provider of stop loss insurance in the United States. This is great opportunity to join the Sun Life Stop Loss Underwriting Team!

What you will do:
Evaluate, price and propose rate and strategy on Stop-Loss new business or renewal opportunities, including specific and aggregate benefits
Investigate case-level information to properly assess risk and provide client centric solutions
Operate within established underwriting guidelines and profitability targets
Manage the sold case process including review of required sold case paperwork, case contingencies, and final individual risk assessment
Manage assigned workload to meet productivity and time service standards
Demonstrate autonomous decision making, while recognizing and accounting for anticipated consequences
Identify and assess the impact of emerging market conditions
Act as a resource for other underwriters and sales team members
Partner with regional sales team to implement successful strategies for profitable growth
Display teamwork and collaboration with internal and external partners
Support the identification and development of best practices, work flows and procedures
What you will need to succeed:
Strong math, communication, negotiation and analytical skills
Demonstrated multi-tasking ability
Must be detail oriented, well organized and have the ability to manage a high volume workload with multiple priorities
Continuous improvement mindset
Ability to work with a diverse range of people
Required Education and Skills:
Four year degree
5+ years of Stop-Loss underwriting experience
7+ years of other medical underwriting experience will be considered
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel

If you are a Colorado resident, the minimum starting salary for this position will be $73,300 annually. Sun Life will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications and experience. This position is also eligible for a broad range of competitive benefits including a choice of company-subsidized medical plans, consisting of network-based plans and plans offering the freedom to go to any provider and two company-subsidized dental plans. We also provide company-paid Basic Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance and Optional Life Insurance that you may purchase for additional coverage. We offer a very generous Paid Family & Medical Leave program, LTD and attractive vacation and sick time. We provide voluntary supplemental health programs such as Accident and Hospital insurance and Critical illness and Cancer insurance.
