The Role Responsibilities Primary responsibility for bank-wide Technology & Innovation Portfolio Management; - Portfolio Manage all IT Projects, Programmes, Journeys (Lean Project Management Investments) and Agile Deliveries
- Manage the investment initiation cycle, ensuring that decisions on project initiation are made with accurate information and useful analytics
- Proactively drive project initiation from the IT roadmap
- Provide the executives of the bank with useful, accurate and timely views and analysis of the planned and current T&I investments through the T&I QPR (Quarterly Performance Review)
- Central point of contact for portfolio control and governance for the top T&I investment projects
- Transform our organisation's change capability, evolving from traditional waterfall practices toward the adoption of agile change methodology and agile techniques
- Run the T&I contribution to the Enterprise Project Management Office, proactively monitoring all critical aspects of the main IT projects to enable the stakeholders, including the senior management team, to have a consistent and transparent and accurate view of their status and their probable trajectory
- Manage a small team that has helped regional Portfolio Review Committees (PRCs) to filter the vast range of Regulatory Projects that originate in countries across the group
Portfolio Management - Provide quality analytics on IT investments to the stakeholders and senior executives
- Guide all IT Investments to produce quality project status and forecasts
- Focus on "what" we invest in to support strategy and scorecard objectives
- Focus on "how" in terms of applying best practice methodologies and discipline to all investments regardless of path chosen (Classic, Agile or Lean)
People and Talent - Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from the team
- Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development; make sure that the team members are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles, ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks
- Employ, engage and retain high quality people
- Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives
- Act as a mentor for staff in different stages of their careers either through formal Mentor Programmes or ad hoc requests
Risk Management - Drive IT investment management approaches that recognize, categorise and mitigate risk as needed
- Process owner for IT Portfolio Management Process (Part of the Risk Management Framework)
- Act quickly and decisively when any risk and control weakness becomes apparent and ensure they are addressed within an appropriate timeframe and, if necessary, escalated through the relevant committees
- Balance business performance delivery and cost management with risk and control matters to ensure that it does not materially threaten the Group, remaining within risk appetite
- Work in collaboration with risk and control teams
Regulatory & Business Conduct - Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Other Responsibilities - System owner for Clarity, JIRA and Confluence - this ownership comes with continuous administration responsibilities related to Cyber Risks and ensuring the products are fit for purpose and always available (System refresh, user matrix etc)
- Journey Lead T&I QPR - convene and run this forum that is chaired by the Group CIO
- Member of ALL T&I QPR funded Programmes (Programme Steering Committee's)
- New Ways of Working Design Council & Steering Committee
- Lead some specific initiatives such as JIRA Cloud and other ad hoc change programmes that benefit T&I
- Input into TNFRC (Regulatory Projects).
Our Ideal Candidate - Exp : 10+ years
- Strong exposure into Project, programme and Portfolio management
- Mandatory Skills: Agile, Investment methods and frameworks, Technology funding options and estimating, Data Management, Resource Management, etc.
- Technical expertise into JIRA cloud and Confluence
- Excellent organisation and leadership skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines and effectively prioritise
