The Audit Director performs varied and complex administrative duties, directs the audit projects and human resources of the Office of Audit and Compliance (OAC) for East Tennessee units and operations, conducts risk assessments and identifies projects for the annual audit plan, and serves as a resource to campus management, primarily at UT Knoxville, the Institute for Public Service, the Institute of Agriculture, and System Administration on matters of university policy and best business practices. This position oversees and administers the offices located in Knoxville. The Director is responsible for recruitment, supervision, and retention of Knoxville-area team members (principal auditor and an audit manager who supervises two senior auditors and two staff auditors) and may supervise and direct other UT System auditors for specific projects or to accomplish the department's mission. The Director oversees the audit function for East Tennessee by directing, supervising, and conducting complex audit work, including audit, consulting, and investigative projects for UT Knoxville and System Administration, including those of the Institute of Agriculture and Institute of Public Service. The director may also oversee system-wide projects and initiatives to accomplish the annual audit plan. This position concurrently directs, manages, and conducts multiple projects to completion, including drafting, editing, and finalizing written reports. The work conducted requires extensive interaction with coworkers and clients, excellent oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, and experience in handling personnel matters. This work requires a high degree of initiative and is performed under very limited supervision. This position is a member of the OAC leadership team, reporting directly to the chief audit and compliance officer.
