Structured Credit is a separate unit within ICG Risk that provides oversight in managing unique risks of structured products. These products (Global Infrastructure Finance, Clean Energy Finance, and Asset Based Finance & Transitional Finance) reside in Citi's Global Spread Products Financing and Securitization ("GSPF&S") and Banking, Capital Markets, and Advisory ("BCMA") organizations.
Characteristics of risks managed by Structured Credit:
o Typically non-investment grade, credit intensive, highly quantitative o Use collateral, contracts, cash flow waterfall and other legal arrangements to mitigate risks o Various instruments across different areas of the capital markets ??? Loans, Bonds, LCs (senior, secured) ??? Structured derivatives (long dated, tailored swaps and commodity derivatives) ??? Tax equity/lease equity ??? Spread across OECD countries and Emerging Markets
Structured Credit works closely with the remedial management risk and business partners participating in restructurings and approving debtor-in-possession ("DIP") financings given product and credit core competencies
Credit and Portfolio Risk Manager-Structured Credit Description The Credit Portfolio Senior Officer II is a senior-level position responsible for leading activities including credit review, credit approvals and monitoring for the Structured Credit portfolio to identify credit migration in coordination with the portfolio management team.
Responsibilit ies Portfolio:
Provide Senior Credit Officer (SCO) oversight of a portfolio of complex cross-product (derivatives, ECA financing), cross-market (senior bank / bond) transactions
o Transactions include project financings, structured financings, leases, acquisition financings, leveraged financings, recapitalizations, tax equity, asset based loans and DIPs o Sectors include infrastructure, telecom, power, oil and gas and renewable energy o Regions include North America, Latin America, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia
Work with Global Spread Products Financing & Securitization and BCMA counterparts on credit approval and execution of transactions identifying key risks and structuring transactions to mitigate credit concerns
Manage risk responsibilities for transaction greenlight and credit approval including providing input to GSPF&S and BCMA partners on the preparation of credit approval memos and transaction execution, escalating potential issues, and building consensus amongst senior approvers
Approve quarterly and annual reviews of Project Finance and Clean Energy Finance portfolios, as needed
Co-manage troubled assets with remedial management adding asset class and structure expertise
Assist with oversight activities including stress testing, portfolio reviews, interfacing with internal audit/FCR and regulators, risk rating processes, governance standards and procedures across product groups
People:
Train and mentor portfolio Analysts, Associates and VPs- provide review and challenge of credit reviews, transaction memos, financial modeling and special projects and helping them to build knowledge across products and industries
Interface with Banking and Products:
Interface with internal product / regional and industry risk managers on new and existing transactions
Work with sponsors and bank syndicates (as Agent) and consultants (legal, independent engineer, market consultants, etc.)
Knowledge of bank and capital markets products and services
Risk Mitigation:
Work with counterparts on risk mitigation at both inception of transaction and ongoing
Qualifications
Senior Credit Officer with extensive years of experience including 7+ years of credit risk experience
Ability to come up to speed quickly on new products and industries
Strong analytical skills with good attention to detail, ability to provide big picture decision making
Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, with ability to present transactions, key risks and recommendations to seniors in a succinct manner
Strong understanding of corporate finance and credit risk required
Sound risk and business judgment on the full spectrum of risk issues
Knowledge of various Capital Markets and derivative products and strong understanding of complex legal documentation
Education
Bachelor's degree/University degree
Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred
