Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Regional Credit Risk Manager.
Identify, monitor, and manage key risks within the Wealth lending business including MSBL products ??? escalate to Regional Head of Secured Lending where required
Work on credit risk management strategies within the framework and of FIM in managing secured credit risks
Define and achieve maximization of return on capital within acceptable risk tolerance and loss volatility
Support development of appropriate risk appetite for secured products including caps and triggers in collaboration with the WPB business
Support business expansion and leverage on new technologies/data in managing the associated lending risks
Partner with WPB CCS and undertake projects that assist in driving efficiency in the new acquisition process such as straight-through-processing
Keep abreast with external factors such as state of economy, regulatory environment and other emerging risk trends and ensure there is timely reporting and escalation of such events
Ensure portfolio standards evolve appropriately to proactively manage changes in external environment, strategy and/or risk appetite
Monitor, review, and control risk profiles (e.g., risk tier migration, concentration of profiles) to ensure portfolio shape is in line with strategy
Strengthen self-understanding and work with other regional and market teams to embed natural disaster and climate change risk ??? Work closely with global teams and external consultants on stress test methodologies and provide business insights to such exercises.
Drive continuous improvement on portfolio risk monitoring and management capability
Ensure credit MI framework is relevant and effective for portfolio management
Work closely with Regional CCS and exercise oversight over collection processes and effectiveness along with Market WPB Risk
Monitor Risk Weighted Assets (RWA) and Impairment Allowances for in-scope portfolios
Support BASEL3 implementation with special focus on Mortgage portfolios and assumptions
Responsible for supporting the Regional Head of Secured Lending Risk on overseeing credit risks for retail secured lending portfolios
Partner with regional and market teams on business expansion initiatives (new markets, segments, channels, etc.) and provide guidance for balanced and sustainable growth
Work closely with market and Regional Risk Analytics teams to gain valuable insights for policy decisions
Routinely perform analysis on or assess portfolio quality, collection effectiveness and forbearance plans
Identify early warning signals and emerging risks, and propose actions to effectively control bad debts within appetite
Oversight of policy and governance framework, practices, and standards to ensure effective risk management. Conduct thematic study and cross-market benchmarking on policy/standards for best practice sharing and enhancement
University graduate with 8-15 years of banking experience in retail credit risk management
Strong analytical capabilities. Knowledge on SAS or other data mining tools preferable but not essential.
Good understanding of consumer credit cycle, use of scorecards or analytics, product knowledge and profit dynamics
Ability to surface risks and institutionalize sound risk management controls
Ability to analyse business problem, recommend effective credit policies and risk mitigations in highly complex situations
Sound communication and organization skills
