CFC has a need for a Commercial Credit Portfolio Manager to join the Portfolio Management team. This is a hybrid position requiring onsite work at our headquarters office in Sterling, VA, as well as optional remote workdays. The Commercial Credit Portfolio Manager is responsible for credit structuring and managing the underwriting process for a group of high-profile members and their subsidiaries or affiliates, which includes originating, pricing, underwriting, closing, funding and monitoring their large loan or bond transactions.
As a Commercial Credit Portfolio Manager, you will: • Originate, analyze, process and service loans primarily for high activity, high profile electric utility accounts. • Maintain a consultative relationship with members to ensure satisfaction with CFC’s loan products and services. • Partner with RVPs to identify and present customized financial solutions to the member’s senior management teams. • Oversee and preform detailed analysis on prospective credits, including comprehensive credit underwriting, detail financial modeling and credit recommendations. • Risk Rate credits for all member loans, which includes evaluating quantitative and qualitative factors, and developing strategies to mitigate ongoing credit risk. • Prepare customized prospect materials to maintain and increase quality loan volume. • Coordinate all aspects of loan negotiations and legal documentation for loans and capital market bond transactions. • Monitor credit compliance, analyze associated risks, and make recommendations for appropriate resolution, which may include discussions with members and preparing requests for consents or waivers. • Detect potential problem credits, advise appropriate internal parties, assist in the resolution of any credit issue, which may include the restructuring of a problem loan. • Assist with the training and mentoring of Credit Analysts.
To be successful, you will need: • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required. • Minimum of seven years of credit underwriting or credit risk management experience, preferably with electric utilities, in a commercial bank or non-banking financial institution. • Completion of a credit risk loan underwriting training program. • Excellent customer service orientation. • Strong credit risk and financial analytical skills. • Ability to read financial documents. • Knowledge of financial and accounting principles. • Knowledge of loan structures and legal documents. • Knowledge of Electric Power Industry and Debt Capital Markets. • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. • Strong financial forecasting and modeling skills. • Significant relationship management and negotiation sills. • Strong critical thinking skills. • Effective self-starter. • Able to deal effectively within a fast-paced environment that requires employee to handle conflicting priorities. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products and financial statement spreading software.
